Activate Message Waiting on Most Popular VoIP Phones
This article describes the procedure of setting up a voicemail message waiting warning for the following VoIP phone models: Snom 3XX Linksys SPA9XX/PAP2 Grandstream GXP2X00 Cisco 7940/7960 Aastra 9112i/480i/480iCT/9133i/51i Polycom 301/320/330/501/550 Message waiting can be activated from the telephone's settings and allows the phone's owner to see when a voicemail message is waiting unchecked in his mailbox. To set up message waiting, follow the steps described below. Open your phone's web interface and go to Setup -> Line x, where Line x is the line you wish to configure. Set the parameter Mailbox to your extension number. For example, Press Save. Go to the Preferences page in your phone's web interface. Set the MWI Notification to Press Save. Reboot the phone in order for the new settings to be available. Log in as admin to your phone's web interface, by pressing the Admin Login link. Click on the Advanced link to access the advanced settings section. Select the extension tab for the extension you want to set. For example, click on the In the Call Feature Settings section of the page, set the Message Waiting field to Press the Submit all changes button. Log in as admin to your phone's web interface, by pressing the Admin Login link. Click on the Advanced link to access the advanced settings section. Select the line tab for the extension you want to set. For example click the In the "Proxy and Registration" section of the page, set the "Voice Mail Server" field to In the "Supplementary Service Subscription" section of the page, set the "MWI Serv" field to Press the Submit all changes button. Log in as admin to your phone's web interface. Go to your account's page. For example go to the Set the parameter Subscribe for MWI to Set the parameter Voice Mail UserID to Press the Update button to save the settings. Reboot the phone. Press the Settings button. Press the Scroll key to highlight the Press the Select softkey. Press the Scroll key to highlight Enable the If you want to disable the feature, press the No softkey. Press the Save softkey to save your selection and display the Press Back to display the main screen. Open your phone's web interface and go to Advanced Settings -> Global SIP settings-> Advanced SIP Settings. Enable the Explicit MWI Subscription checkbox. Press Save settings. Reboot the phone to make the new setting available.
